About

Our Mission

Saving animals in need by providing foster, adoption and rehoming services through our community based ‘loving home to loving home’ foster model. Our dedicated foster home network helps animals avoid stressful shelter environments by placing them directly into loving homes until their new adoption homes are found.

We believe cats and dogs are part of a family, whether that be a single person or any configuration of folks who can provide love, care and safety to their foster or adopted companion animal.

What we do

  1. We rescue cats and dogs from public shelters where they are at risk due to space or financial limitations.
  2. We also offer rehoming programs for individual families.
  3. We practice the ‘loving home to loving home’ model for our animals in transition.
  4. We health check, spay/neuter, vaccinate, and microchip them.
  5. All cats and dogs additionally undergo a personality assessment.
  6. Animals settle into their foster homes.
  7. We make the dogs and cats available for adoption.
  8. They find loving homes.
  9. We provide post adoption support to ensure a successful match.
  10. We always take our animals back for the duration of their lives.

Rebecca Marsh-President. “There is a revolution happening in animal welfare where healthy, adoptable animals will no longer be housed in shelters, but instead in loving foster homes until adoption. This is the best transition for a rescue cat and dog, and the family ready to love them. The Center’s FTA(Foster-to-Adopt)model is the wave of the future”. Rebecca brings over 34 years of leadership and experience in animal shelters and rescues. She has worked in all aspects of animal nonprofits, from volunteer management, adoption and foster programs, veterinary clinics and hospitals, development, strategic planning and fiscal oversight. Rebecca shares her home with rescue dog Lexie, rescue cat Ted and foster cat Gil.

Julie Hurst-Vice President. “Over the past four years I have experienced the positive results of first fostering and then adopting my little dog Coco. This has made me understand the importance of fostering dogs and cats. I have always wanted to do more to help animals. Volunteering with Companion Animal Community Center is a way for me to keep helping dogs and cats find their forever loving homes”. Julie’s 30 years in Finance and Accounting support the Center’s financial groundwork.  She also brings extensive knowledge on nonprofits and foundations as a strong base for fiscal health and growth at the Center. Julie shares her home with rescue dog Coco.

Susan Befu-Treasurer. “I am committed to CACC because it represents all that I embrace about animal rescue”. As Founder and President of Givmar, Sue was responsible for fiscal health and growth of the company. A deep understanding of accounting, financial PR and business tax laws, she is the perfect fit for Board Treasurer. Sue shares her home with two rescue dogs Amber and Brody.

Ashley Stubbins-Secretary. Until I adopted Lucy and Snowball, I didn’t know my capacity to love an animal could be so great.  I look at them and my heart is full.  They have brought me so much joy and I hope I am providing a wonderful life for them.  Every animal deserves a loving home and a happy life.  That’s why I’m dedicated to working with the Center to help rescue more cats and dogs and find the perfect companions for people in our community”. Ashley’s 20 year career in Marketing brings professional insight and execution to the Center’s Marketing strategies, Social Media campaigns, and Fundraising communications. Ashley shares her home with rescue dog Lucy and rescue cat Snowball.
